2o2o

another year at an end. i don't feel like doing much reflecting as i do enough of that, but do want to talk about my year in travels. i also won't be covering resolutions like i have done in the past. maybe i am a bit disheartened, but i think i am now more in the mindset of taking it day by day. instead of fixing set goals, my aspirations are a bit more vague. for the next year i hope to be more financially savvy, but that does not mean more budgeting. i'm a pretty thrifty gal already. as cardi b says, i want to "make money moves."also i want to live a simpler life, whatever that means. at the moment i am thinking about 1) decluttering my mind; 2) living with less stuff (but i am in no way becoming  a minimalist); & 3) saying no if i don't want to spend my time doing certain things.

the highlight of the year was my 3 week solo adventure to italy & amsterdam. i have a feeling it will be quite a while until i do another international trip (except maybe canada), so i am holding this trip close. also slowly...very slowly, i am uploading posts about this trip.

in italy i visited milan, venice, verona, padova, florence, siena, lucca, pisa, rome, bracchiano, tivoli, orvieto, naples, ercolano, & pomeii (that is a mouth full).

the roman ruins.

in the netherlands, i only visited amsterdam & zaandam.

besides my big solo trip, i did take a few weekend trips throughout socal including:

yermo/victorville (pictured is me talking to abe at calico ghost town). clearly i am passionately conversing nonsense)

encinitas (pictured is our airbnb)

and idyllwild

i also went hiking/strolling regularly the first half of the year, and failed miserable the second. i hope to start this back up. some highlights included:

mt. rubidoux, riverside

antelope valley poppy reserve, lancaster

arroyo pescadero, whittier

chino hills state park, chino hills

and my own local spot. it's a secret.

now for a song. i love a good ol' rendition of 'aul lang syne,' but i have chosen the song multiple times for my new years post. i am going to keep with the scottish tradition & choose a scottish song. this song is an old gaelic working song that one day popped up on my youtube (i am sure this is due to watching outlander videos. this is gaol ise gaol i (she's my love, my love is she) by kathleen macinnes. enjoy!
